Wellbeing

Hello Mackellar community,

As part of our strong commitment to providing students with the tools they need emotionally and for their own well being, Mackellar Primary School has engaged PROJECT ROCKIT to conduct a series of workshops with our grade 5 students.

PROJECT ROCKIT is certified by the Office of the e-Safety Commissioner as a Trusted e-Safety Provider. All PROJECT ROCKIT presenters have submitted Working with Children's checks. They are required to annually re-apply for this badge and this involves providing information on current staff, workshop content and how they train and support presenters to run workshops.

Additionally, they are a youth-driven organisation and therefore their workshops are led by young people which is integral to their approach over the past 15+ years of working in schools.

 Because of this, PROJECT ROCKIT presenters go through a detailed internal training program to equip them to speak on matters of bullying, (cyber) bullying and leadership, ensure their own well being to deliver content, and are trained in presenter facilitation skills for primary and secondary students.

The four sessions they will for our grade 5 students run cover the following topics:

 UNITE - Defines what bullying is (on and offline) and ow students can stand together to combat that behaviour and stand up for one another;

SYNC - Introduction into navigating the online world with a focus on dealing with communication and conflict online;

STEP UP - Learning what it means to take positive action and using your individual strengths to stand up for what's important to you; and

BELONG- Unites students to celebrate each other's differences and build a more diverse and inclusive community.

There is no cost to families for these sessions, and further information will be sent to parents of grade 5 students closer to the date.

Regards,
