Regional champs

Last week our ASC Chess team travelled to St Mary's College in Gunnedah for the North West NSW Junior Chess League finals. After some intense competition, ASC emerged with the title of NW Champions, defeating St Mary's 3:1. 

Earlier in the month our ASC Chess team played their 3rd-round matches against O'Connor Catholic College. They also scored a 3:1 victory in that encounter to earn the berth in the finals. 

ASC will now play other winning regional teams for the NSW State Finals. Congratulations to our players and thank you to Mrs Brennan for coordinating the ASC Chess Club.

Chess Challenge Day

On Tuesday, 15 June, ASC hosted a Challenge Day sponsored by the Sydney Academy of Chess. Invitations were extended to other local schools to join the large ASC contingent of enthusiastic chess practitioners.

After a day of full concentration and strong tactical play, ASC took out 1st place in both the Schools and Individual sections.
