Fun in Learning

Hamburger day

Year 8 Agriculture students left their shovels behind and got their stoves fired up to plan, prepare and eat hamburgers.

The experience demonstrated that agriculture does not happen in isolation and feeds a diverse set of occupations beyond the farm.

Linking to the past

Year 9 History students have been researching the experience of Australians during World Wars I and II. Class members were given the task to create a family album or journal from this period.

Take a look at the creative work of Sophia-Rose Markham and Matilda Stubbs ... we are very proud of our talented and hardworking students!

On the beat!

Last week, Year 10's Commerce Business class visited the Armidale Police Station in their studies of the topic Law, Society and Political Involvement

Students were taken on a brief tour of the facilities and shown how some of the equipment is used. They also used the visit to ask some very thoughtful questions about how Police perform their role in our community.

A special thank you to Senior Constable Fiona McCormack and Senior Constable Jaime Porter.

Maths stacks

Year 9 Maths class took a different approach to learning about number patterns, shapes and volumes with hands-on building projects using lots-and-lots of toilet rolls.

In another period, students used Uno cards to explore mathematical concepts.

What fun and engaging classes!

Naturally descriptive

Students from Mrs Rottcher's Year 9 English spent a class exploring the wetlands area within the school grounds. They were encouraged to 'look, listen and observe' to get ideas from the natural environment which could be incorporated into their descriptive writing project.

Kimono crafting

Year 11 Textiles are proudly displaying their finished projects in the Library. The class was required to implement various principles of design to develop the elements from a simple kimono pattern.

Its a real eye-opener to see the different outcomes from the same starting point!

Acting it out

Several Year 10 English classes are studying Of Mice and Men. These groups are working collaboratively to develop a narrative from key scenes in the book.

We can't wait to see the final results presented to the class!
