Around the School

Stage 2 Rose

This term we have been doing a lot of art, in art we are focusing on Anzac Day. We drew poppies and soldiers it has been a lot of fun.

Also, this term we have been focusing on Math a lot, mostly on times tables. We are all getting a lot better at Maths from the start of this term we all enjoyed the math games that we have been playing.

We have also been doing a lot of handwriting and we are even learning to write in running writing we have got a lot better at writing than we were before and some of the class even got their pen license, it has been a bit tricky but we are getting better by every day.

We've also been talking about our zones they are the green zone (ready to learn/ confident) the yellow zone (have a break and slow down) the blue zone (sad and gloomy) and the red zone (angry/need to slow down and have a break, we also got an owl to help with our feelings.

Gardening Club

GCS Gardening Club has started up in the Primary once more with the help of Rebecca Wood, UNE Social Worker in training. We have a positive and enthusiastic group of students from K-6 who have been working really hard to get the gardens in the quad filled up with soil ready to plant some winter vegetables. The beautiful soil from Tibbs’ is proving to be an excellent foundation for our gardens and we have added some compost and mulch ready to grow cauliflowers, cabbage, silverbeet, broccoli and lettuce to begin with.

Many hands make light work!

New England Conservatorium of Music - Armidale Eisteddfod

On Tuesday 25th May 2021, I travelled to Armidale to attend the Armidale Eisteddfod at Lazenby Hall at the UNE.

I attend two classes at the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM), Cantilena and Cantilena Chorale.

At the Eisteddfod we sang four songs against two classes from PLC, and two classes from Armidale City Public School. Normally these performances are judged and places are given but because of COVID-19 they decided that the classes didn’t have enough time to prepare, so all classes were given feedback on their performances instead.

I was very excited and nervous to be singing on stage in front of a lot of people.
