Music Matters

Our Jazz and Concert Bands have been working hard on their online Sydney Eisteddfod projects with filming at their before-school rehearsals. Sydney Eisteddfod moved to this type of submission at the start of the year but it seems other organisations will return to live competition. We thank the students and their directors for their efforts and are hoping for some good feedback and maybe even some certificates. Judging will take place over the upcoming holidays.

Thanks also to all the students involved in the Climate Change Project. I believe filming has been completed and now for the painstaking editing process. We will have a gala showing when the time comes.

Drama Matters

Last night our Elective Drama students in Years 11 and 12 went to the Belvoir Street Theatre to watch Chekhov’s classic play The Cherry Orchard. Updated by Artistic Director Eamon Flack this is a bold and humorous version of Chekhov’s final play. The students enjoyed the show and performances of the actors in a theatre space which is often discussed in our lessons. It was very helpful to Year 11 who are in the process of finalising their Director’s Folio and considering theatre spaces, configuration of sets and acting choices.
