Prayer

This Friday, 11 June is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most widely practiced Catholic devotions, taking Jesus Christ’s physical heart as the representation of his divine love for humanity. We can draw strength and hope from the heart of Jesus, as we pray:

Holy Heart of Jesus, Sweet Sanctuary of rest,

Bring peace to my soul and settle my spirit,

Especially in matters that trouble and burden our hearts.

We vow to place all our worries and fears

into the wound of your Sacred Heart,

there to be tended to in accordance of your strength and faith,

which desires only the best and highest good.

Your love alone is enough, and we draw courage from it;

Clinging to the hope of peace for ourselves and our loved ones.

Amen.

Athletics Carnivals

What great days we had yesterday and today for our Athletics Carnivals.  After last year’s carnivals were cancelled due to COVID and the 2019 Carnivals were washed out, the boys were certainly ready to run, jump, and throw!  Their participation was the real winner on the day. I was so pleased to see the spirit and enthusiasm of every student who enjoyed being involved. Well done to our House Captains, who spurred their houses on and to all our young men who participated with gusto.

Thank you to all our Staff, to the group of parents at the Junior School Carnival, and particularly Mr Matt Stearn and Mr Benn McBrearty, our Sportsmasters, for the organisation and running of two outstanding Carnivals.

Congratulations to Treacy House who are this year’s winners of both the Senior and Junior Carnivals!

Winter Appeal

The College's Winter Appeal, centred on the donation of suitable goods and food to aid those who are less fortunate, concludes tomorrow, Thursday.  Our donations will aid St Vincent de Paul’s Winter Appeal and also the Jesuit Refugee Service.  They are asking for donations of goods such as men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, blankets and non-perishable foods.  Please give generously, as you are able.

St Pius X College Annual Survey

The College's Annual Survey is still open and will close on Friday 11 June.

This week is the last opportunity to complete the Annual Survey. All parents, students and staff will have received an invitation to complete the Annual Survey and I strongly encourage everyone to complete this. We very much appreciate your feedback. As a College, we are always working towards continual improvement and information gained from our annual survey is an important part of this work. Thank you for your feedback as we continue to provide the best opportunity for our students.

Term 2 Concludes

To enable Interviews to commence and provide enough time slots for Interviews, Years 7 to 12, will conclude Term 2 at 12.00 noon on Thursday 17 June. All students are to go directly home.

This early dismissal time is to allow students in Years 7 to 10 to travel home and for staff to be available, so they can participate in their meetings.

Years 5 and 6 will continue at school with their normal program on Thursday that includes Oxford Falls, finishing at the normal time of 3.00 pm.

CIS 1st XI Football

Our First XI Football team move into the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Cup Semi-Final to be held at Valentine Park, Glenwood next Wednesday 16 June commencing at 6.15 pm. This is a great achievement in this State-wide competition.

To support our 1st XI, the College is offering buses for supporters to attend. Students wishing to attend to support are only to travel on the College supervised buses. No student is to drive to the event. All students in attendance are to be in full school uniform as we represent our College at this event.

The buses depart the College at 4.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon with an expected return time of approximately 9.00 pm back to the College.

A note explaining this event and the role of our supporters will be distributed to your son on Friday. Please ensure the permission note is signed, confirming your knowledge and approval of your son’s attendance to this match, by Tuesday 15 June. We look forward to gathering as one to support and wish our 1st XI Football team well.
