Yanni Rowlands’ amazing Chess People  (click to follow the link) took out first place in the Junior Tropfest Competition  (which had over 350 entries) and Yanni was also offered a job on the day by a Melbourne-based producer!

Oliver Bailey and Oliver Crawford-Smith's  film took out third place in the national competition , with Oliver Crawford-Smith also being awarded best male  actor.

You can see their film here – The Suburban Luchador

Our talented students are  of course, keen to get as many 'youtube likes’ as possible, so have a look!

Debating Update

Northcote High School hosted Thornbury High School in a closely fought debate on the topic that the punishment given to the Essendon players by WADA was appropriate. The Northcote Year 12 team (Lily Chalmers, Luisa Romeo, Thomas Bell and Anna Langford) will now go to the final to be held at the Olympic Hotel in Preston on March 2nd.  The competition is organised annually by the Northcote branch of the Lions Club and raises money for the participating schools; Northcote High School Thornbury High School, Our Lady of Mercy and Santa Maria. Our thanks go to the Lions Club for their efforts on our behalf.

Following your dreams

Freya Wilkinson left Northcote High at the end of 2013 in order to commence full-time ballet training at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet. Freya has gone from strength to strength having completed her advanced diploma of dance at the end of 2015. She successfully auditioned for the prestigious Prix de Lausanne and as a result was awarded 10 scholarships to international schools. She has decided to accept the offer to attend the Royal Ballet Upper School in London for 3 years commencing in September. We wish her well.
