2016 Annual Swimming Carnival

General Info

Northcote High School prides itself on providing students with opportunities to flourish in a number of ways and events such as the Community Swimming Carnival. The day allows students and staff alike to develop new friendships through participating in a range of water and land based activities. Students who are swimmers are given an opportunity to compete in a full program of events and secure their place in the divisional swim team.

Event Details

Date:               Friday 4th March 2016

Transport:      All Students are to make their own way to the pool and will be dismissed from the venue.

If your child is unable to make their own way to the pool please contact Sarah Blanchard via email  (blanchard.sarah.s@edumail.vic.gov.au)

or by texting the sport phone (0422373591) as soon as possible. Please include your child’s full name and tutorial group. A bus will be departing from NHS at 8.40am for these students. Students will need to arrive at Northcote Aquatic Centre by 9.15am for roll marking.

 

Times:            

​8.30am – 8.45am – All students wishing to compete in the longer swim races must arrive at the pool, entering via the side gate and presenting to the sign-in tables at the south end of the pool grounds before marshalling for their race.

8:40am – Buses will depart NHS transporting those students who were unable to make their own way to the pool (pre-notification necessary).

9.00am – Competitive swimming events begin

9.15am – All students MUST be at the pool and signed in by this time. Roll marking tables will be located at the South end of the pool for signing in.

9.40am – Community Swimming Carnival Assembly.

2.00pm – All students will make their own way home from the pool. NO buses will be provided. Staff will be there to assist students with directions to public transport options.

Venue, cost etc

Venue:            Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre, 180 Victoria Road, Northcote

 

Uniform: Casual clothes are permitted and students are encouraged  to be Sun smart, bringing a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and a long sleeve shirt with a collar. All students are strongly encouraged to wear their House Colours/fancy dress. House allocations can be found on Compass next to the student’s name.

Cost: $12.50 per student

Consent: Payment and Consent for the swimming carnival can be done via Compass or the front office.

The due date for payments and consent is Friday 26th February.

Food:  All students are encouraged to bring a snack and packed lunch to the venue. Limited food is available to purchase from the canteen.

Family Participation 

All parents/guardians are invited to attend the Carnival with events running from 9.00am – 1.20pm. There are competitive swimming events, novelty swimming events and a beach volleyball competition, catering for all students.

 

Additional Info Year 7-9 Students

It is compulsory for all Year 7-9 students to attend the swimming carnival for the entire day.

- Students will be required to sign up to events on the day.

Additional Info Year 10-12 Students

- Year 10, 11 and 12 classes will still be running.

- Year 10, 11 and 12 students wishing to compete in the swimming carnival should have signed up via the Sport signup survey on MyNHS.
