Important dates for Yr 12
Students will hear a lot more about VTAC this year, and for those who wish to pursue tertiary studies in Victoria, it is essential that they attend all Daily Connect sessions, as much of the information will be delivered via tutors, who can then support students through the application process.

Monday 1 August: Applications open for courses, SEAS, and Scholarships
Friday 30 September :Timely course applications close
Tuesday 4 October: SEAS (Special Access Entry Schemes) applications close
Friday 14 October: Scholarship applications close
Monday 12 December : VCE Results and ATAR released
Wednesday 18 January: Round 1 undergraduate offers available

Careers Expos @NHS
We run two of these events – one for Year 11, and one for Year 10. All students attend, but we are always looking for dynamic, interesting career stories to inspire them.
- Do you have a friend or relative with a really cool career?
- Does that person like young people?
- Would he/she be interested in talking to our students about his/her career?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, please contact Kylie Witt or Colm Reale at the school. Our next event is on March 15. We’d love to have you there – especially if you work in art/design technology, any of the sciences, hospitality, police, the medical field, with animals, in sport and rec, video or game making, law or the emergency services. If you are an athlete, many of our students also want to hear about making a career out of their love for sport. If you are not on this list, but have an interesting story to tell, we still want to hear from you as well.
Still looking for career stories from our alumni … please get in touch!
And remember to keep checking the careers page at myNHS …
Events & workshops
There are many opportunities to explore what’s out there, and the earlier you start, the better informed you will be when you get to Year 12. Being better informed can also help with motivation and a sense of purpose or direction. All the tertiary institutions run open days later in the year, but many of them also run special activities in the holidays. As they are advertised, we will promote them in the school, but you should make a habit of actively looking for them as well.
A few examples are listed below:
- VCE Careers Expo – May 5-8 - a massive big event at Caulfield Racecourse, with displays and seminars. You can download a program here. This is a good place to get lots of information in one hit, after which you can narrow down your search.
