School Council Meeting Report – March 2021

JSC REPRESENTATIVES

  • Thank you to School Captain, Talia and JSC representatives, Olivia and Chloe for updating School Council on their recent meetings and initiatives. There are some great projects already underway and plenty of ideas from CHPS students that are being considered by JSC this year.  We appreciate all of your work and efforts, and for coming to present to us.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

  • Christian’s Principal Report highlighted the following:
    • Last week’s completion of NAPLAN by Year 3 and Year 5 students.
    • A comprehensive summary of the formal Professional Learning undertaken by all staff this semester.
    • An update on the partnership between CHPS and volunteers from Interchange Outer East that started a month ago.  Huge thanks again to Georgina Standfield for instigating this truly valued partnership.
    • The many examples of how our community is engaging in learning – including excursions/incursions;  the Middle School Production;  Interschool Sport;  Year 3-6 Cross Country;  the upcoming Open Night/Education Week and Stage Struck;  Respectful Relationships Parent Information sessions and the valued CHAPS and MOTHS events both recently past and upcoming.
    • The number of planned facilities and learning environment enhancements for this year are almost completed.  School Council were able to view some of these fantastic enhancements last night, as we held our meeting in the new Science Room and had a tour of the Middle School thereafter.

POLICIES UPDATED

  • The Student Leadership, Homework and Asthma policies have been updated and endorsed by School Council.
  • They can be found here https://www.croydonhps.vic.edu.au/page/74/Policies
  • Thanks to CHPS staff, parents and school councillors that have provided feedback, and have reviewed and updated these policies.

FINANCE

  • School Council passed the Confirmed Budget for 2021 (after census).

As reiterated on previous School Council reports, the School is in a very good financial position and there is a strong commitment to funding curriculum programs and providing sufficient resources to cater for the growing student population.  It is very pleasing to see how our funding is consistently used to maximise learning opportunities for students and how this will continue into future years with considered planning and appropriate prioritisation of all funds.
