Our newest community members!

As shared previously, our Science Room and program is evolving. Our latest enhancement is the addition of our newest community members! We look forward to introducing the community to our baby turtle, bearded dragon and stick insects on Tuesday evening at our school’s Open Night.

Welcome Madeleine Plant

On Friday last week MVU welcomed their new classroom teacher, Miss Madeleine Plant. Madeleine is a recently graduated teacher who has spent the beginning of this year as a relief teacher at Mitcham and Park Orchards primary schools.

Maddie has been making herself available to meet families at the classroom before and after school and is available for formal ‘Meet the Teacher’ appointments over the coming weeks.

To support MVU’s transition, Jessie Cassidy will remain in MVU each Friday, team teaching with Maddie until the end of term.  Leading Teacher Liam Sommers will take on the role of coaching and mentoring Maddie as she settles into the day-to-day operations of our school.

Out of School Hours Care Fee Increase

Over the past fortnight Business Manager Angela Stevens and I have been working with the Finance and Out of School Hours Care Committees on the fee structure at OSHC.  Our work involved comparing our centre’s service and fees to that of other schools in the area and an investigation into the rebates families receive as a part of the government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

As a result, last night School Council ratified an increase of 50c per hour to each of before school care and after school care charges. The new fees will be $13 in the morning and $19.50 in the afternoon, prior to CCS.  This is the first OSHC price increase in three years.

The change will take effect on 1st July 2021.
