Principals' Update

Professional Learning Communities

Our PLC leaders attended their second session today as part of our term long training. Professional Learning Communities are a department mandated framework designed to help teachers and school leaders work together more effectively to support student learning. PLCs are designed around ten principles that we are working to further develop here at CNPS:

  1. Student learning focus: School improvement starts with an unwavering focus on student learning.
  2. Collective responsibility: For every child to achieve, every adult must take responsibility for their learning.
  3. Instructional leadership: Effective school leaders focus on teaching and learning.
  4. Collective efficacy: Teachers make better instructional decisions together.
  5. Adult learning: Teachers learn best with others, on the job.
  6. Privileged time: Effective schools provide time and forums for teacher conversations about student learning.
  7. Continuous improvement: Effective teams improve through recurring cycles of diagnosing student learning needs, and planning, implementing and evaluating teaching responses to them.
  8. Evidence driven: Effective professional learning and practice are evidence-based and data-driven.
  9. System focus: The most effective school leaders contribute to the success of other schools.
  10. Integrated regional support: Schools in improving systems are supported by teams of experts who know the communities they work in.

Senior Recorder Ensemble

Following their concert at last week’s assembly, the senior recorder ensemble had huge success at their recent eisteddfod. You can read a full summary of the group and individual achievements of the ensemble later in this newsletter. Huge congratulations to all students involved, and especially to ensemble leader and teacher Rachel Snedden.

100 Days of School

Tomorrow marks 100 days of school for our 2022 Foundation students. This wonderful achievement will be celebrated during the day with presentations to all of the students, and a commemorative photo. Certificates will also be presented to each Foundation class during tomorrow’s assembly. Congratulations to all of our wonderful Foundation students, and of course to our super Foundation teachers, Jacquie and Eoghan.

Boiler Update

An order for a new boiler has been submitted. We have also made a formal application to the department for funding support in covering the cost of a new boiler, we are hopeful of a positive outcome in this. We also note with thanks, that Tim Read (Greens member for Brunswick) has written to the minister on behalf of our school to support our case for funding.

Drop off and pick up times

A reminder that the school yard is supervised from 8:45am each morning and until 3:45pm each afternoon. If your children are at school outside these times it is essential that they are booked into Big Childcare or another extra curricula activity such as netball.
