Teaching & Learning 1G

1G have had a wonderful start to Term 3, settling into the classroom routines after a much needed rest! In Literacy, we revised nouns and have now been focusing on adding adjectives to make our writing more engaging. We completed an activity where we started with a boring sentence ‘The egg cracked open.’ We then added one describing word each time and drew a picture to match the new sentence. We repeated this step until we ended with AMAZING sentences.

In Inquiry, we have started our new Inquiry topic ‘How do plants and animals adapt to different environments to ensure a healthy life cycle?’. We are learning all about different types of Minibeasts at the moment. We linked the writing focus with our Inquiry topic by drawing our favourite Minibeast and writing adjectives to describe that specific Minibeast. We came up with lots of fantastic words to improve our vocabulary!

We made the most of the beautiful weather on Monday morning and completed our weekly weekend writing outside. We had so much fun!

In Mathematics, we have been revising our place value knowledge, understanding how to partition numbers and understanding three-digit numbers as being comprised of hundreds, tens and ones/units. We have been making numbers using hands-on materials (MAB) and using expanded notation to represent the place value of each number.
