Week 5 Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Feast day of Mary MacKillop 8th August

“Never see a need without doing something about it.”

Prayer Provident God, with grateful hearts we remember the power for goodness that Mary MacKillop is in our world.

On this her feast day may we be touched anew with her spirit of prophetic charity and generous participation in mission.

We ask this in the name of Christ, the Sacred Heart,

and of the Spirit of Mission.

 Amen.

CIRCUS

What a wonderful but busy week we have had to start the month of August. This week we are excited as the circus is coming to town. All students from Foundation to Year Six will be participating in lessons. Please see the timetable that your child’s teacher shared with you.

100 DAYS OF FOUNDATION

Last week we had 19 very excited Foundation students as they walked through the gates of the school for their 100 days of Foundation celebrations. In true Mrs Wenckowski's style, it was a special day with lots of fun activities and treats. Congratulations to you all on reaching 100 days of school.

STEM MAD

On Thursday,  I had the pleasure of attending my first STEM MAD showcase. I was blown away by some of the inventions and presentations. STEM MAD (Make A Difference ) is designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate how students in Catholic schools take action that matters.

We had three teams chosen to participate in the showcase. Thank you to Mr Frazzetto for preparing and guiding these students, they did such an amazing job presenting their prototypes to all the judges. There are definitely some future inventors and engineers in our midst.

Also thank you to Mrs. Monaghan, Mrs. Gasbarro and Fon Mazzarella for delivering all the student’s work to the Catholic Leadership Centre and to Ms. Sargent, Jo Smith and Franca Matsamakis for all their support on the day.

A big congratulations to the three teams who showcased their work and to the Year 3/4s who exhibited their Light and Shadow Artwork. Everyone loved the display and it looked amazing.

An even bigger congratulations to Ethan, Catherine, Scarlett and Connor for winning the award in the Sustainability section with their invention CLEO the Cleaning Whale.  To learn more head over to the STEM page in the newsletter and our Facebook page.

Year 6 Confirmation

Congratulations to the Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday night, it was such a spirit-filled ceremony. Thank you to the Year 5/6 teachers and Annette for organising such a wonderful celebration and for preparing the students so well. Bishop Curtain even commented on reverent the students and families were.

Congratulations Liz

We congratulate the Diamond on their gold medal win. What an amazing effort, we could not be prouder of their efforts at the Commonwealth games. Well done to Liz on her leadership of the Australian Netball team the Diamonds. We can not wait to congratulate Liz in person when she returns.

We wish Mrs. Watson safe travels as she now has the opportunity to explore, relax and spend some time with her family.

Have a wonderful week,

Vira Pirrotta

Acting Principal
