5/6 Debating

On Monday 25th July, proud students of Warrnambool Primary School participated in the Warrnambool Debating Eisteddfod hosted by Robert Coffey and Greg Allison at Mozart Hall. The students had worked studiously preparing their speeches which were adjudicated to a strict criteria. The topic of the debate was, "It is always wiser to leave some of one's thoughts unsaid, than to be totally honest".

We entered five teams, with students acting on behalf of the negative and affirmative teams for the topic. Mr Coffey was impressed by the level of arguments presented on the topic, and provide excellent feedback for our students moving forward.

Penny Morrow, Nyema Wiltshire-Jervies and Amiyus Cunningham won their debate against Grasmere Primary School.

Kye Hooper, Olivia Anderson and Holly Fitzhardinghe won the debate against Freya Earnshaw, Sara Dillon and Meika Johnson who all spoke extremely well.

Eleanor Bussell, Phineas Griffin and Otis Farrington tied their debate with another WPS class comprising of Jagger Lynch, Jack Griffiths and Josh Lilley.

A big thank you to Noah O'Connor and Bianca Cowell for the ongoing support of their teams. Noah also acted as Chairperson for two debates. Well done!

Official Prizes will be awarded a later date.

Prep excursion to Edward the Emu

The Prep students enjoyed the performance of Edward the Emu yesterday at the Lighthouse Theatre. The show was fantastic and all the students were on their best behaviour. The emus were puppets that looked so real the Preps thought they were actual emus. They mixed the stories of Edward the Emu and Edwina the Emu into one show which was so good to see.

Brick Club

Brick club has been formed as part of lunch time activities on a Wednesday. This club is run by a volunteer Ryan Bigg who is passionate about lego. It's been great to see all the wonderful creations the students have been making.
