International Student Program

We have had a very busy start to Term 3. We are so pleased to see that most of our newly arrived students have settled in well and made new friends. This semester we are offering 8 subjects at our ILC (Intensive Language Course) which are: English, Humanities, Maths, Science, Arts, Physical Education, Food Technology and YLA/MMP.

Our ILC coordinator, Ms Podesser, encouraged our students to send their first "greeting" email to their teachers and here are some of the wonderful greeting messages from our students:

  • "My name is Mike. I  am 17 years old, and I am  from FuJian, China. My hobby is watching Animation. I'm an anime fan. I like the design of Australian currency.  What surprised me the most here is that the school is not like my hometown where there are nine classes a day."
  • "My name is JunKai Yu, I'm 16 years old and I am from China. I like playing basketball. I love the milk in Australia because it can help me grow taller. The first time I came here I was so surprised because there is a gym at school."
  • "My name is  Kumi and I’m 13 years old.  I’m from Japan.  My hobbies are painting and collecting stones. My favorite thing about Australia is Australian food-BBQ. I am surprised that students in Australia are required to bring their own computers everyday!  During the recess and lunch times we are encouraged to leave the classroom without staying inside. Lastly, I also can speak Chinese."
  • "Hi, my name is Maika. I'm 14 years old. I'm in Year 7. I'm from Viet Nam. I have studied English for 5 years. My hobbies are watching horror movies or playing piano. In Australia I love kangaroos and koalas. We can take a three month summer vacation in my country. One thing about school in Australia surprises me is we can do so many  funny experiments in our Science class. I look forward to exploring more."
  • "Hello! My name is Khadicha (Sofi) Bazarbaeva. I'm 13 years old from Uzbekistan. I have been learning English since I was in Year 6. My hobby is listening to music, I'm obsessed with nature and also with watching kdramas. I am interested in reading books, maybe drawing. My favourite thing about Australia is the nature. In Uzbekistan in summer it is very hot with the temperature up to 50 degrees. I was very surprised that every period is very long."
