F/1/2 News

The F/1/2 students have had an amazing start to the term. They have settled in really well and it has been great to see how easily they have settled back into the routine at school

In English, the students have been learning about digraphs. This where two letters work together to make one sound (phoneme), such as /sh/ and /ch/. We have been working on digraphs on our Letterland program and our SMART Spelling/Foundation programs. All of the students are becoming really confident at explaining what a digraph is. We have also been looking at our fluency. We have been practising our ability to state letter names and read with speed and accuracy. This will help our reading become less disjointed and more engaging.

In Maths, we have been focusing on writing numbers, creating collections and counting patterns. The students have been developing their knowledge of place value as they play games, such as guess my number, and making collections using items and MAB.

In Religion, we have started our unit on Sacraments. We have begun by talking about how people and God show love. We are moving into discussing celebrations inside and outside of the Church.

This term, in Cross Curriculum, we are going to be learning about Digital Technologies and coding.

100 days of school

The 100 days of school celebration for the F/1/2 class is coming up on Monday 31st July. This day marks the 100th day that the Foundation students have been at school.

This year we are going to celebrate the day with the theme 100 days brighter. To celebrate this the F/1/2 students will be participating in activities that match this theme and the number 100.

The F/1/2 students are also invited to come dressed in their brightest clothes on this day to match the theme.

Flying Bookworm

Today the F/1/2 students went to Rushworth P-12 to experience the Flying Bookworm performance. This was a great experience for the students which brought literature alive. Today’s performance covered three stories/poems. These were Market Square by A. A. Milne, Caps for sale by Esphyr Slobodkina and Three Billy Goats Gruff. The students loved participating in the play and they were full of laughter and giggles.

The students were also very excited to find a rabbit on the walk home, after it being a main part of the poem Market Square.
