District Athletics Carnival:

Date: Thursday 31st August (week 8)

Time: 9:00 - 3:00pm

Location: Bill Sewart Athletics Track, East Burwood

A team of 62 students will represent CHPS and compete at the carnival in various different events.

If your child has been selected to participate, please look out for the event on Compass to consent and pay for.

Students will be training over the next couple of weeks, to prepare for the carnival.

As part of the competition, each school is required to have 3 parent helpers to run an event for the day. Our school has been nominated to facilitate the girls long jump event so if you are able to help on the day, can you please email laura.yorke@education.vic.gov.au

Boys Netball:

On Thursday 31st of August, 13 boys from across Year 5 and 6 will be participating in the State Netball Championship Finals. This has meant these students have finished in the top 10 Boys’ Netball teams in the state – a fantastic achievement!

Congratulations and good luck to:

Tom SLD, Ryder SJB, Jasper SKT, Ashton SKT, Rhys SED, Jai SED, Liam SRT, Corey SLD, Oscar SMG, Tom SKF, Jacob SKT, Hunter SJB and Kai SKG

Thanks in advance to the parents who will be supporting the transport of these students to and from the event.

Premier's Reading Challenge

If your child has been participating in this year's Premier's Reading Challenge, it is finishing soon, on Friday September 8th.  All students who complete the challenge receive a Certificate from Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, so make the most of the coming four weeks and happy reading!

From Sophie in Sickbay...

There seems to be a spate of Head Lice in the school at the moment, with a number of classes handing out the dreaded "red notices" over the past several weeks.

Please regularly check your child's hair for live lice or nits (eggs) and treat appropriately if any are found.  If your child has hair longer than collar-length, please have their hair tied back during school hours - this is a simple and effective way to minimise spread.

Children are free to return to school once hair has been treated, but please be aware that a second treatment (four days later) should be carried out to catch any missed nit hatchings.
