Year 8

Jacob de Kunder

Voice of 8

Recently the Year 8's got a chance to write and run their own curriculum through the Voice of 8 Program. Students chose a topic they wished to learn more about, plan how they wished to learn it and completed a full day focusing on these areas.

Students completed a range of activities including:

- a basketball and dodgeball tournament from the sport group

- a round the world cookbook with dishes to match in the cooking group

- a range of wooden and 3D printed pieces in the technology and design group

- the music group honing their individual and ensemble skills

- playing and creating tabletop fun in the boardgame design group

- mugs in a cup, meditation and more crafting with a focus on self-care

- designing and creating personalised bags in the sewing group

- building fires, shelters and makeshift tools in the surviving the outdoors group, and

- using the lighting rigs and backgrounds to create high level photography and animation

Students shared their success with the whole cohort in an assembly to round out the day with smiles all round. A big thank you goes to the staff who helped plan the activities, provided materials and gave up time to help students complete some of these out of the ordinary activities.
