'No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted' Aesop

Dear Parents and families,

Another fortnight is over at Sacred Heart and we can't believe how quickly the term is progessing. With some extraordinary learning going on in classrooms and specialist programs we have some exhausted students.  Our aim is to get everyone to the finish line in one piece. Our School production will be the finale to our busy term. As the days are getting longer, there is a glimpse of Spring in the air and the excitement of the new season on the horizon. Hang in there and rest up as much as possible so we can enjoy the remainder of the term.

Peter Pan

Our school production is on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th of Sepetember. Rehearsals are well underway under the incredible guidance of Mr Stephen Coutts who has had seamless transiton into the Music role this term. We thank Mr Coutts for all the extra work behind the scenes to ensure it is a wonderful production. Congratuations to the 5/6 main characters for giving up their lunchtimes to rehearse and special thanks to Mr Thiessens  and Miss Rafferty for supporting the lunchtime rehearsals. All costume information has been to sent out to classes and the main characters. Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to be Costume Co-ordinators for their child's class. Just  a reminder that if you have something at home, please use it that rather than buying something new or check out the local Op shops for a treasure or two!

Year 4 visit to the Jewish Museum

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of accompanying our year 4 students on their excursion to the Jewish museum. This was in preparation for their sacrament of Eucharist in a few weeks time. The students learnt a lot about the Jewish faith and gained  a deeper understanding of the relationship between the Pesach (Passover) and our celebration of the Eucharist. The students learnt about the many different Jewish festivals, celebrations and rituals.  We also had  a visit to the Synagogue where the boys had to wear a kipper on their heads in respect of being below God. We also witnessed a mock Passover meal that is traditionally held on the Sabbath, where they enjoyed some bread and grapejuice. Hopefully the students have gained a greater understanding of  the significance of the Last Supper and Eucharist. Thank you to Matilda Tench and Joanne Collins for organising the excursion and to Stacie Matthiesson, Kate McDonnell and Ella Piggot for helping out on the day. We pray for the Eucharist candidates in preparation of this special sacrament.

FLUENCY PAIRS

It is wonderful to witness across the school the improvement in our reading fluency across the school from prep to year 6. The year 4 students were hard at work deciphering information about volacanoes this week and helping each other to expand their vocabulary.

LOST PROPERTY

There is an extrodinary amount of lost property in the breezeway, mainly jackets and jumpers,  so please have a good look and take anything home that belongs to your child. A reminder to name ALL UNIFORMS as any unnamed items will go back to the uniform shop for resale. If your child brings a ball to school please ensure it is named.

Have a wonderful weekend and rest up,
