Foundation (Prep)

Literacy

This week we continued to focus on how to write a story. In Writer's Workshop, students were encouraged to think of three things to help them get started. We discussed Who, Where and What. Who will the character be? Where will they go? What will they do when they get there? In handwriting we concentrated on the correct formation of the letter Uu, so we did a task where our character was under an umbrella.

Numeracy

In Maths, we continued our work with Addition. We read number stories and used problem solving strategies to work out the total. One of the examples we listened to was a story called Jumping Joey. Jumping Joey was similar to the Gingerbread Man and ended up having multiple animals chasing after him. We recorded the number of different animals and students were encouraged to use resources from around the classroom to work out how many animals there were in total. Different sets of numbers were offered to children working with larger numbers.

Athletics Day

Thank you Ms Kenny and all of the parents who helped make our Athletics Day a fabulous day. I was so proud of Prep C! I saw students working together as a team, helping others who were feeling worried and resilience with trying new activities. Great job everyone!

I hope you all have a nice weekend.
