Hello, from our students and teachers.

Hello from  Grade 5/6 and Jacinta Condon.

Cooking

This term the Grade 5/6 students are fortunate enough to be participating in the school's kitchen/garden cooking program. Students have been busily putting their cooking skills to the test, by baking up a storm. A group of students cooks a hearty and healthy meal for their fellow classmates while others have been focusing on practising some tried and true recipes when baking, scones, yo-yos, cupcakes and Anzac biscuits. Students will continue to practise perfecting these recipes and will enter their creations into the Bendigo show. We have all been able to enjoy these tasty meals and delicious treats and look forward to our next session.

Science

While half of the grade cooks the rest of us have had a fantastic time conducting science experiments to do with reaction and change. So far we have looked at the reaction created when we added an acid (vinegar) to a base (bicarbonate of soda) we discovered that it created a gas (carbon dioxide). Then we had some fun with oobleck, using cornstarch to create or own non-newtonian fluid. It was messy but we all enjoyed experimenting with this strange substance.

Writing

In writing sessions we have been busy collecting information, categorising what we have collected into sensible areas and then paraphrasing this information to produce reports. Attached is some of our amazing work.

Mathematics

In mathematics lessons we have been focusing on money and finance. For one of our tasks this week, students were given a pizza night budget. Here are some of the ways that different students tackled the problem.
