From the Boarding Captains

The start of Term Three has been smooth sailing with everyone getting back into their normal routines after a well-deserved two-week holiday. In the Senior Houses there has been a lot of talk about the finishing of Country Week last term as well as what everyone got up to in their break. The Junior Houses came back very energetic after the holidays ready to catch up with all their friends after what felt like an eternity away from them all.

Throughout the last few weeks not only through the boarding community but also through the day school there has been a common cold going around causing students to need to stay home from school, we strongly encourage everyone to wash their hands regularly and keep healthy throughout their day-to-day activities.

Kingfisher Fair this year is on Sunday 10 September, which is around the same time as previous years, and it is quickly approaching. As boarding do every time, we contribute either a sale or a stall to the event. This year Anchorage and Eclipse are joining to cut a few loads of wood to raffle, then draw the winners out at the end of the day. Breaksea is making rocky road in jars which the Endeavour students are welcome to join in and help with, this will make a great bonding experience between the two houses. Endeavour will also do some face painting and as always, we have the Chocolate Wheel with prizes donated from boarding families.  Be sure to look out for both of these stalls on the day.

Recently we have been working with a past staff member and Head of Year Seven, Mrs Kate Mitchell supporting an organisation that she and her family have created. This came about after a traumatic experience that affected their family. The Darcy Effectis a Foundation that helps families get medical attention when they are in the rural and country areas of Western Australia. This organisation also partners with the Royal Flying Doctor Service which as Boarding Captains we believe is a very necessary cause to support as although some boarding families might not have had to use it, they might need it in the unlikely case of an emergency.

We hope everyone has an enjoyable rest of term, and for the Year Twelves an enjoyable and fun last term!
