NMPS Traffic Management Plan

From Sarah, Principal

Plan for Molesworth Street

Starting the new Semester is a good time to re-communicate the Traffic Management Plan for our Molesworth Street Campus to manage the traffic situation around the school and ensure the safety of our students and families.

As you may already be aware, the parking options in the surrounding area are limited, which makes it crucial for all of us to adhere to the plans and signs that have been put in place. We understand the challenges this may present, but by working together and following the plan, we can create a safer environment for everyone.

We have been actively communicating with the council regarding traffic management around the campus to improve traffic flow and the safety of our school community, however for now please find below a copy of our standing Traffic Management Plan.

It provides information about our:

  • pick-up and drop-off zones
  • disability parking
  • street parking
  • student bike racks (newly opened)

During peak times, such as pick-up and drop-off, we anticipate increased traffic, and we kindly request your cooperation in adhering to the following guidelines:

1. If making a U-Turn, please make your way towards the end of the street, instead of using the divide at the Welcome Entrance of the school. This allows traffic to naturally flow in a safe direction.

2. Refrain from double parking or blocking other vehicles. Double parking creates unnecessary hazards. Please use the designated drop zones and avoid blocking other vehicles or impeding their movement.

3. Do not drop off or pick up your child in the middle of the road. It is essential to prioritise the safety of our students. Please utilise the appropriate drop-off zones, and if those areas are occupied, please wait patiently until traffic clears and a spot becomes available.

4. When using the drop off and pick up zones, please naturally move forward to the first available spot allowing other vehicles to follow through behind. Please remember, these spots are designated 'no parking' zones during drop off and pick up times.

Where possible, we encourage families to walk or ride to school and we are happy to announce the new student bike racks are located behind the basketball courts. However, please note that the number of racks is limited due to space constraints.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to continuing to work together to maintain the safety of our students and families.
