The Human Body

We kicked off the term 3 Literacy unit with an investigation into the Human Body. In particular, the students have been learning about the brain, heart, stomach and lungs.

Last Friday, we were lucky enough to have special visitor Lichin (Mujin’s Mum) come and speak to them about the brain and the heart. They made ‘brain hats’ to wear which had the different parts of the brain labelled on it. While students were given instructions to ‘stand on one leg’ or solve simple maths problems, their buddy had to identify which part of the brain was being used! After hearing interesting facts about the heart and how it works, the session ended with a fun debate about which organ is more important; the brain or the heart? What an exciting introduction to the Human Body!

We are now investigating an organ of their choice and will present their information in a poster.
