Level 5 - Term 3

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all the new families who have recently joined and welcome back all our familiar faces. Term Two was full of rich learning opportunities that demonstrated the students’ fabulous growth mindsets and resilience. It concluded with a successful celebration of learners proudly showcasing their Student Led Conferences and Semester One reports. Term Three commenced with great enthusiasm and a sense of curiosity as students dive into new and exciting topics. It has been phenomenal to see the students reflecting, collaborating, encouraging and supporting their peers seamlessly throughout their learning experiences. We are so incredibly proud of all the children in the Level Five cohort and so appreciative of the support our amazing families have provided.

Introducing Mrs. Lane of 5A

Sue Lane was born in the Eastend of London, UK and emigrated to Australia as a “ten-pound Pom” when she was in Grade Six. She settled in north-west Tasmania with her family and then decided to pursue a career as a teacher. Sue’s first teaching job was in a tiny mining town on the west coast of Tasmania – Savage River – taking on a Year Three class at Savage River District High School. In 1996, after bringing up 2 wonderful sons – Patrick and Alex, the family moved to Melbourne so that her husband could take on a role as a journalist for the ABC’s 7.30 Report. Sue took on a job as a primary/ early secondary teacher at The Knox School where she remained for 25 years! In 2019 Sue retired, intending to look after her grandchildren and to pursue other interests but was, in 2022 encouraged to re-enter the teaching profession due to the widespread teacher shortage. Eventually Sue ended up at Glen Waverley Primary School, teaching 5A and is delighted that she took this opportunity! In her spare time Sue enjoys sewing, painting, piano and, of course, spending time with her growing tribe of grandchildren!
