Enter the Wellbeing Zone

Welcome to the Wellbeing Zone. When you enter the zone, you will find a wealth of information about all the things happening in the Wellbeing space at Sunshine Heights PS as well as strategies, articles, book recommendations and events that will help build our dream and culture of Wellbeing throughout our school community, inside and outside of school, so that we can sail together through a universe of possibilities with all the emotional and social skills we need to thrive.

Making our DREAM a Reality.

A massive welcome back to you all. Our hearts were full seeing you all back onsite this week and having a school full of the energy of our students. Particularly beautiful to welcome our new preps and families. We are so excited to have you with us! This year, in the wellbeing space, our focus will be on bringing our Wellbeing DREAM alive. Last year, through many deep discussions with students, staff, families and even the wider community, we crafted a beautiful Wellbeing DREAM for Sunshine Heights Primary School that will drive the important work we will do this year and the many years to come. As a whole school, we will be exploring many of the various threads that help our students to know themselves, show themselves and grow themselves. This will include a deep dive into social and emotional learning, differentiation, student voice and agency and building the strongest eco-system of support possible. We are ready and excited to make our dream a reality, and we can't wait to do it with you all!

A part of building our eco-system is to be there to support you all, so please reach out if you or your child need any support.

With love,

Francine

Know Yourself, Show Yourself, Grow Yourself Mental Health Festival

Speaking of knowing yourself, showing yourself and growing yourself, we couldn't be more excited to be delving right into this concept as we curate an incredible something for our community - the Know Yourself, Show Yourself, Grow Yourself Mental Health Festival that will happen from Monday 21st March to Friday 25th March 2022.

Throughout that week we will have a full program of activities for our students, as well as a full public program open to the community being delivered from Monday 21st to Thursday 24th. The programs will be co-created by students and the community and seek to raise awareness and normalise conversations about mental health by creating a safe and inclusive space where community, services, ideas and creativity can dance together; helping people harvest the skills and knowledge they need to know, show and grow ourselves. The weeklong program will be held at the school and will be bustling with workshops, guest speakers and experiences centered on core tenets of mental health and wellbeing; fostering diversity, inclusion, connection, courage and belonging along the journey line.

And on Friday 25th March, our community will come together to celebrate our uniqueness and wonder with a block party guaranteed to bring the magic. Sunshine Heights Primary School will be transformed into a universe filled with food trucks, performances and entertainment, experiences, creativity, a makers stands and community service booths. Our students will have the chance to perform to the wider public as part of the community block party for our Harmony Day celebrations!

So, will you come know, show and grow yourself? Save the date!

The full progam of events will be released later in February and we can't wait to share this with you!

All families and children are welcome.

Before 8:45am, families and children must enter from the Mailey Street main entrance, and all children must be accompanied by an adult between 8:30-8:45am until staff are on yard duty from 8:45am.

Come feed your bodies and minds and start the day right - belly full and connected!

A massive amount of love and gratitude to our parent volunteers who make Breakfast Club possible.

Prep Health Questionnaires

On Thursday, your child would have come home with the Prep Health Questionnaire in their school bag.

This questionnaire goes out to all students across Victorian school's and helps gather important information around your child's health that enables schools to provide targeted support to students through the School Nurse service. Questionnaires are entirely confidential and are returned sealed to the school and delivered directly to our amazing school nurse, Melissa.

Once all questionnaires are returned, Melissa will contact parents to discuss their concerns and responses from the questionnaires, visit the school to conduct health checks for our prep students, and provide important referrals for those who need it.

It's an amazing service, and one we value to ensure the health and wellbeing of our youngest community members.
