HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP

A SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH-ACHIEVERS

Applications open 7 February 2022 and close 9 March 2022.

Hansen Scholars come from around Australia, with diverse ambitions, but connected by the drive to further their education and make an impact. At Melbourne, we foster opportunities for students to thrive through study, mentoring and extracurricular activities. We'll support our Hansen Scholars in gaining the skills and knowledge to become inspiring leaders.

Each year twenty exceptional students from around Australia will be chosen based on their commitment to their academic success, resilience to adversity, and demonstrated commitment to helping and leading others. Applications open in Term 1 of the year preceding the start of your undergraduate degree at Melbourne.

Join a supportive community of high achievers

Hansen Scholars are from diverse backgrounds throughout Australia. You'll form a close bond with your other scholars throughout your degree and the program alumni network will be with you throughout your life. Additional pastoral care will ensure you're supported throughout your studies.

Financial support to focus on your studies

You'll receive an allowance throughout your three-year undergraduate degree to support your living expenses as well as a one-time grant of up to $4000 to support an approved activity for development such as an international exchange, an international subject, an internship or similar role.

Free accommodation at Little Hall residence

You'll benefit from the security of accommodation at Little Hall, ideally located between the heart of Melbourne and our Parkville campus. This is the only residential option covered by the scholarship.

Guarantee your place in a professional masters degree

Hansen Scholars who get an ATAR of 99.95 or above and meet the prerequisites and entry requirements will secure a Commonwealth Support Place in your chosen masters before you start your undergraduate degree.

Make powerful new connections that will help your future take flight

A comprehensive and bespoke mentoring program will connect you to leaders in your chosen field, while the program Patron Ms Jane Hansen A.O will offer sponsorship and support. Take your next steps with confidence, with funding of up to $20,000 after you complete your degree.

Time and resources to consider your future and grow as a person

A development program will aid you in learning about your strengths and interests to make informed study and career choices. The culture club will connect you with the best of Melbourne’s cultural life and broaden your horizons no matter what your course of study. Take the opportunity to grow and learn as a mentor to other Hansen Scholars in your later years, as well as the chance to undertake the Leadership in Communities Award.
