Harmony Week

From the week beginning the 21st of March MPRPS participated in Harmony week. Harmony week is where we respect and appreciate all our differences and bring everyone together no matter their gender, race, or religious beliefs. Our school has also set up a large world map displayed in the assembly hall, where we have collected data from all of the parents and students about where they’re from and their country background. This can be seen through all the lines of red string on the world map. (See photos below) Those lines of string are connecting our school here in Melbourne with all the 40 countries from around the world. You can also see the names of the countries listed to the side of the map.
On Friday the 25th of March we held our official Harmony dress up day combining it with and celebrating Closing the Gap day. Students and teachers came to school dressed in their cultural clothes or flag colours or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander flag colours, showing respect to everyone’s country and background. That day went very smoothly and we were happy to see everyone being included and together celebrating Harmony Week! Students had a wonderful day filled with bright colours and joy celebrating all our cultural backgrounds!
