Year 9 My Career Insights Program
Early in Term 1, our Year 9 cohort will be participating in the My Career Insights program starting with the completion of the Morrisby testing. Similar to our previous Year 9 students over the last few years, students will sit a 2-hour assessment which will generate a report that each student will have the opportunity to go over with a career practitioner. These reports are a valuable resource that helps guide students around their work and study styles, skill sets, aptitudes and ambitions and how these can inform students about which subjects and careers might be best suited for them.
The profiling session involves 8 timed aptitude tests and 2 interest and personality multiple-choice questionnaires. Year 9 students will continue to revisit their reports throughout the year to build their career action plans, select their subjects for the following years, plan for work experience in Year 10 and explore their options for the future. Students can access their reports online through the Morrisby website and can continue to do so even after they have moved on from South Oakleigh College. Students are also able to grant their parents access to their profiles so parents can take part in study paths, action planning and career discussions at home.
This is a great opportunity and resource for our students and I look forward to exploring the world of work and careers with our Year 9 cohort this year!
