Murray at South Oakleigh College

Murray and Ms Jeffries, the certified visiting therapy dog team, have enjoyed bringing wellbeing and lots of furry pats to the students and staff at South Oakleigh College this term. This is the fourth year that Murray, a 5-year-old Labradoodle, has worked in schools alongside Ms Jeffries, and students adore having him in their classes and sharing pats in the hallways.

One highlight is also spending recess or lunch with Murray playing fetch on the oval, which is Murray’s favourite pastime. During Murray’s time in the classrooms, he has participated in many Drama lessons where he gets involved with the games and activities, he has enjoyed pats under the desks, and also provides brain-break opportunities for students who would like some connection before they return to work.

Murray also attended the Year 7 BBQ, where he enjoyed meeting Year 7 parents and families and even snagged a sausage or two. He looks forward to continuing to bring wellbeing to South Oakleigh College!

Year 7 BBQ Musical Performance

We had our first live performances from our music students this year at the Year 7 BBQ on Thursday the 10th of February.

Our 2022 Performing Arts Prefects Julia Creeley and Sophia Donnellon did a stellar job assisting in the organisation of musical items for the evening. Logan Hamilton impressed the crowd with his stunning vocals singing “I Can See Clearly Now” and Lucien Tarjan and Claire Yeung did a marvellous duet playing “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest showman on violin.

To fill some more time, Sophia and Julia did an impromptu song each themselves.

It has been a long time since any of our students have had the opportunity to perform live and in person with an audience and we are so proud of our students.
