OUR FAITH

PRAYER
Sustaining God, caretaker of life, you are always present. You live in us. Watch over our school community during the break, and keep us safe in your watchful gaze. Bless our school community as we celebrate our holidays. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
We pray ...
for Mrs Kendall Pearce and her family, for the recently confirmed Confirmation candidates, for all Year 12 students in particular the McCarthy Catholic College students as they embark on completing their final days of schooling, for the Southwell family (Alexander 6O) on the very sad passing of their brother, brother-in-law and uncle and for all who are travelling in the holidays.
INFANTS LITURGY
Today the Infant’s Liturgy was celebrated at St Nicholas Church. The singing and reading by all students was outstanding. We thank Fr Chris for leading the Liturgy and all the mums, dads, grandparents and special friends who attended. Thank you to the Infants teachers who prepared and ensured the Liturgy ran smoothly.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation Retreat Day- Last Friday
The Confirmation Retreat Day was a great success thanks to the many who volunteered their time and services. All students who attended the retreat enjoyed the day thoroughly and commented on how reflective, prayerful and enriching the experience was as young members of our faith community. Many commented on how interesting it was listening to Bishop Kennedy speak and we thank Bishop Kennedy for his time. Our thanks also must go to Fr Chris, the Parish helpers, Mrs O’Sullivan, Mrs Hofman and four McCarthy Catholic College students who were able to give their own personal insights and reflections about Confirmation and their faith life.
The Sacrament of Confirmation
Congratulations to the children who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation last weekend. This was a wonderful occasion for the students and their families. The children presented beautifully and we thank our parents for their support. A very big thank you and special mention must go to Bishop Michael Kennedy and Fr Chris for the manner in which they made each Mass so memorable and special for our children, their families and all in attendance.
We also thank the Altar servers for their dedication and commitment to our Parish Confirmation Masses. Thank you also to the Parish choir for supporting our children and for the many members of our Parish and school who have been praying for our children. Mrs O’Sullivan and Mrs Hofman also need to be thanked for ensuring that our students were well prepared for this important occasion. We pray that the Holy Spirit will work through them and continue to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in everyday life.
October is Mission Month –
Advanced Notice
This year for World Mission Day 2018 Pope Francis says:
“Never think that you have nothing to offer, or that nobody needs you. Many people need you. Think about it! Each of you, think in your heart: many people need me”.
Catholic Mission is asking that we join others throughout Australia to learn more about issues of mission and justice. To support Catholic Mission Month our school will be having a “Crazy Socktober Day” on Friday 19th October where the students will be allowed to wear colourful and outrageous socks to school for the day. The students are asked to bring a gold coin donation to school on this day to help raise funds and awareness. More information about Catholic Mission can be found at
