OUR FAITH

PRAYER
Psalm - Written by Seamus Ryan (Year 4)
Holy Lord,
How saddend are the people of this forsaken, barren land,
for no rain has fallen upon thou scorched and sunburnt glen for many a year,
and so tearful are the farmers of the dry and cursed field,
as many of their lives may never be rebuilt.
Please send us your gracious rain.
Amen
We pray ...
for our Year 6 students who are in their final week of primary schooling, for the families who will be leaving our St Nicholas School community, for Mia Schumann-Gross who was baptised last weekend, for all our families as we prepare for the Christmas season, for safe travels; for our St Nicholas Community as we continue to journey through the season of Advent, especially those who are suffering loss and hardship.
LITURGY NEWS
The Season of Advent
This coming Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent. This Sunday is known as "Gaudete Sunday." Gaudete means "rejoice" in Latin. It comes from the first word of the Entrance antiphon on Sunday. The spirit of joy that begins this week comes from the words of Paul, "The Lord is near." We again light the candles of hope and love.
ST NICHOLAS FEAST DAY - END OF YEAR- WHOLE SCHOOL MASS
Last Friday we celebrated the Feast Day of St Nicholas and our End of Year Mass. It was lovely to see so many parents, family, friends and parishioners of our school community in attendance. At this mass, we gave thanks for our year together, launched our revised Mission Statement, sang the blessing song and said an official farewell to our Year Six students. We thank Fr Chris for presiding over the mass and for allowing us to celebrate as a community at school with well over 800 people. A big thank you also to the altar servers, readers, Mrs Graham, Mrs McGuirk, and to the students and staff as their angelic singing and reverence created a special tone throughout the mass.
CHRISTMAS JOY- MUFTI DAY
Today the students and staff definitely enjoyed a variety of Christmas joy. The colours, decorations, hats, headpieces and tinsel was a great way to spread joy amongst others and raise some much-needed funds for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas and Bush Fire Appeals. Thank you to all who donated.

Reconciliation
Please consider taking the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Christmas. This is a means of preparing ourselves spiritually for Christmas, giving us peace of heart and mind.
Altar Servers- Thank You!
A huge thank you to all our altar servers and to their parents for supporting our school and parish masses for this past year. It is a massive commitment and a great act of service to our school and parish community. We will be looking to recruit new servers in the new year to try and help ease the load of our fabulous experienced servers!
