Principal's Message

Welcome to Term 3
Dear Parents/Guardians
I hope your daughters had a restful and re-energising break and have returned ready to embark on Term 3.
We welcome back from leave Ekaterina Xanthopoulos, Helen Perks, Martine McLeod and Rebecca Poulos and we welcome (or re-welcome) new staff Jan Tallarida/Peter Box, Monica Meng, Meral Simsek, Danielle Tankovich, Sarah Jacobs, Alexia Samiotis and Rebecca Ford who are replacing the following staff on leave, Randy Marshall, Leah Liakos, Adrianna Welniak, Allan Trigellis-Smith, Geoff Earle (from late Term 2), Viv Tate and Peter Blick respectively. I would also like to echo Linda Brown’s sentiments in congratulating David Russell on his appointment to the principal position at Parkdale SC and wishing him all the best.
Congratulations also to the following staff members for their appointments as Student Managers for Term 3 – Emily Price, Year 9 and Mel Erwin, Year 12. They are looking forward to supporting their cohorts of students.
This term, a number of international students will be enrolling in our English Language Centre, prior to embarking on undertaking their VCE next year. Our International Student Program enhances the college through recognising and celebrating our ties with the broader educational community. Linda Brown and Doanvy Roberts, our International Student Program Coordinator, are currently undertaking a recruitment drive in Vietnam and Thailand. Their visits to agents and expos are going well and we hope to welcome students from these countries to MGSC next year.
Now that we have completed the Semester 1 assessment and reporting process, we are seeking your feedback via this quick survey, which we are asking you to complete by Monday 24 July:

There is a similar survey for the students: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MGSCstudentsurvey
Your comments will help us to refine our assessment and reporting processes.
The process for subject selection begins soon. The Year 8 and 9 student sessions will be held during Personal Learning time, providing detail about the elective subjects being offered in 2018. The parent information sessions will be held next week:
- Monday 24 July – Year 9 into 10
- Tuesday 25 July – VCE Information/Expo Evening
- Wednesday 26 July – Year 8 into 9
All sessions commence at 6pm in the Nina Carr Lecture Theatre.
We look forward to seeing you at these sessions to help your daughter to make informed decisions about her educational pathway.
We wish our Music staff and students a successful Music camp from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 July as they prepare for the upcoming Winter Concert. I know parents always look forward to their performance on the Saturday afternoon.
Wishing everyone a productive term.
