Principal’s Message

Mrs Kath Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Unbelievably, we are now commencing the last half of Term 4. Over the next few weeks there will be many exciting opportunities for our students to enjoy such as excursions, swimming and end of year festivities.

This Monday, staff will be participating in a Staff Development Day. The focus for this day is familiarisation with the new English and Mathematics syllabi that will be implemented in 2023. Following on from Monday, we will be using these new syllabus documents to inform our 2023 planning in these key learning areas.

After speaking with Fr Abmar, it has been decided to postpone the First Reconciliation sacrament for 2022 due to the continued pressures caused by the ongoing and unpredictable flooding. As such, the sacrament of First Reconciliation for 2022 students will be held prior to First Eucharist in May 2023.

A Parent Information evening will be held by St Mary's College this Tuesday evening for the families of students who will be commencing Year 7 in 2023. The session starts at 6pm and will be held in the St Xaviers school hall. Also the next orientation day for incoming Year 7 students will be Thursday 24 November.

Advertising for our 2024 transition program will commence this term. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program next year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms for next year's transition program are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023 , please encourage them to contact me at school.

Finally a few quick reminders:

- Hair that is longer than shoulder length must be tied back at all times with blue, gold or natural coloured hair ties, ribbons or scrunchies.

- Hair colouring of any kind is not permitted without explicit permission from the Principal.

- Hair styles with cut or shaved shapes and patterns are not permitted.

- Jewellery is not permitted with the exception of a watch, medical bracelet, a necklace with a small cross or crucifix and plain studs or sleeper earrings - maximum of two per ear (girls only).

-Nail polish and false nails not permitted.

- All toys are to be kept at home to ensure that there is no damage to or breakages of toys that come from home. Students are able to play with toys available at school if they wish to do so during break times.

- Given the current flooding situation, it can, at times, cause delays in staff members getting to school. Our supervision time of a morning commences at 8:30 am. Please bear this in mind if you are dropping your children off to school prior to 8:30 am.

Happy birthday to Saxon who celebrates his 10th birthday on Sunday 20 November. We hope you have a fantastic day.

Take care,

Kath Baird
