Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It’s finally here! The Holy Saviour Mini-Fest and Twilight Cinema is on tomorrow. All the hard work and preparation is about to come together into what looks to be an amazing afternoon and evening of celebration as a community. We aim to hold the Twilight Cinema on the school oval, however, if it rains, we will be moving this indoors to the Church Hall - the movie will go ahead whatever the weather! Please BYO chairs and/or picnic rugs. The food trucks will be staying on after the Mini Fest for you to purchase dinner. Please note that the Twilight Cinema is a dry event, no alcohol will be permitted throughout the evening.

Holy Saviour Day

Along with our Mini-Fest & Twilight Cinema on Saturday, this Sunday we celebrate our Holy Saviour Feast Day. The name "Holy Saviour" is connected to the first Cathedral in Rome, "The Archbasilica Cathedral of the Most Holy Savior and of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist in the Lateran, also known as the Papal Archbasilica of Saint John [in] Lateran." There will only be one Mass this weekend at Holy Saviour, and this will be celebrated at 10am on Sunday. It would be wonderful to see as many Holy Saviour families there as possible.

Holy Saviour Familiy Christmas Picnic

Save the date! On Thursday 8th December from 5:30pm-7:30pm, we will be celebrating the year with our first Holy Saviour Family Christmas Picnic. Children will be performing Christmas songs, the tennis club and coaches will complete the tennis program from this year, with a BBQ provided by the tennis club, and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year together. More details will follow, but we encourage all families to make an effort to attend.

Victorian State Election - Voting Centre - Saturday 26th November

Holy Saviour has been selected as a voting centre for the upcoming State Election on Saturday 26th November. The School Advisory Council will be running a BBQ throughout the day and we will be seeking volunteers to assist on the day. Please complete the following form if you have time to share.

Bunnings BBQ - Saturday 3rd December

We have been fortunate enough to be granted a second fundraising opportunity at Vermont South Bunnings on Saturday 3rd December. As well as being an iconic Aussie tradition, the sausage sizzle will enable the school to raise important funds, every cent of which goes to purchasing assets that are used by our students each day in their schooling. To make this day a success we are calling on our parent community to volunteer their time for 2-hour shifts. If you can spare some time to help us raise funds for our students, please indicate through this  form.

School Advertising & Flyers

We are looking for walkers who would be happy to take our new flyers and posters out to our community. We distribute to ALL kinders and childcare centres but it’s always good that they go into letterboxes as well. Feel free to pick up a few fliers in our office to give to neighbours with young children, Catholic or not, they are welcome to visit. Thank you to the parents who have already taken a pile to deliver. If you can help, please email office@hsvs.catholic.edu.au and we can get some to you.

School Tours and 2023 Enrolments

We ask that any parents who have a younger child who turns 5 before 30 April 2023, and are wishing to enrol them into Prep at Holy Saviour for 2023, to please submit an enrolment form to the school office by Friday 27th May. This will assist with our planning and organisation for next year. You can access the forms via this link, or you may collect an enrolment pack from the school office. Once complete, it can be given in or emailed to office@hsvs.catholic.edu.au.

Final Thoughts ~ Remembrance Day

Today we remember with thanksgiving those who made the supreme sacrifice in time of war. We pray that the offering of their lives may not have been in vain. Today we dedicate ourselves to the cause of justice, freedom and peace; and for the wisdom and strength to build a better world.

We inherit the world, the whole of history, our place on earth, our place in time, our fortune, good or bad, pure chance.

Now, in one picture, we see our entire planet: one world, one race, one future, bound together for the first time.

Ours for the breaking or the making.

(David Roberts)

They shall grow not old, As we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. With the setting of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.

Lest We Forget

Kind regards,
