A journey into Medieval Europe

Our Medieval Day experience

Last week, we sat with three of our peers to ask them all about their Medieval Day experience. Here’s what they had to say:

Falantina Jankel: “My favourite part was dressing up. I loved wearing the medieval dresses that were brought in by Living History. It made me feel like I was actually in the past for a moment. It made me feel like a queen. I also enjoyed wearing the helmet and touching the sword. It made me appreciate how hard it would’ve been to use them. Finally, I also enjoyed shooting the bow and arrows. If I can say one thing to Year 7 students next year: Show up -  Medieval Day is fun.”

Adrian Gauci: “I enjoyed participating in archery. I enjoyed learning how to use a bow and arrow properly. I also liked how we got some time to actually practice our skills. I nearly hit the target, too! Holding the shields, the armours, and all the other weapons made me appreciate how strong they were. You definitely wouldn’t be able to break through them easily.”

Arthur Kozielewicz: “It was a hands-on experience. I enjoyed holding the swords and wearing armour. I was surprised that it was not heavy at all - just compact with all those layers. It made more interest in this aspect of Medieval European history. I also enjoyed the archery part of the program. I’ve tried it before but this was the first time I have had to hit a target as far and as small as the ones we had to hit. It was also interesting to see all the items made out of animal bones like the dice and the horn, which showed me how creative you had to be to live during those times.”
