Leading the way

Great success!

We have reached the midway point of Term 4 and it has certainly been an eventful half-term.  As you will see throughout this newsletter, many of our students have achieved success in a wide range of areas and have represented our school with pride.

Congratulations to everyone who has participated in these events. With many more events scheduled between now and the end of the year, I look forward to seeing many more of our students displaying their wonderful talents and thank our amazing staff who somehow find time in their busy schedules to provide these opportunities for our students.

White Ribbon Respectful Relationships Walk

On Friday, Week 6, our student leadership teams will be joining approximately 1000 students from schools in our local area in a march to show support and understanding of respectful relationships and against domestic violence. Our Cowpasture network of schools are committed to:

  • Empowering respectful relationships between young men and women
  • Preventing violence and negative behaviours
  • Educating our community to make a difference

 Staffing news

Congratulations to Matthew Evans, who was recently appointed to a permanent position at Cecil Hills High School.  Matt has a number of important roles within the school, including PDHPE teacher, Senior Coordinator, Transition Advisor and relieving as Head Teacher Administration. We are pleased that Matt will be able to continue to support our students in achieving their potential for many years to come!

Building Update

The plans for our new buildings are progressing well and we are nearing the final stages of planning and design. What is going to be delivered looks amazing and I am hopeful that I will be able to share some images with the community soon. At this stage, construction is due to commence in Term 2 2023.

COVID Reminder

Unfortunately, we are once again seeing a rise in the number of COVID cases in our school community. At this stage, this increase is in line with what is occurring in the community so we are not required to implement additional measures. For this to remain the case, it is imperative that students and staff should continue to stay home when sick.

Students, staff and visitors should only attend school when they are symptom free. We will continue to send home students or staff who are displaying symptoms.   Anyone who believes they have been exposed to COVID-19 is strongly recommended to monitor for symptoms and test if they have concerns, as well as wear a mask. We will continue to support the use of rapid antigen tests (RATs) if you have symptoms or believe you have been exposed to the virus.
