From our Primary Students

This year, transition has been coming to school every Tuesday, thank you to Miss Farmer and all the SLSO’s who looked after the transitions this year. We are looking forward to having them join us next near when they start Kindergarten.

We have had students participating in the learn to swim program. It was a busy two-weeks but they enjoyed going to the pool, especially doing their survival swimming.

We went to the Guyra show and looked at the art that we all put in. We have also done some murals with Kay Smith top display around the School.

This year Guyra Central students have attended the swimming carnival, athletics carnival and cross country.  A lot of students have also attended soccer, football, touch football, netball, hockey, cricket and basketball trials. Well done to everyone who has represented Guyra Central this year.

We have done fundraisers for the Great Aussie Bush, Thalgarrah and other excursions. Thank you everyone for supporting us.

The Primary SRC have hosted an Easter Egg hunt and Pyjama Day to raise money for Ronald  Mcdonald house. They organized ANZAC Day, Clean Up Australia Day and the leadership lunch. The SRC clubs have been running each week, and these have been really popular with the students.

We have had many PBL rewards days, we went to Kids World, have had class parties and attended a disco, we have watched movies in our class and had lots of fun times.

Last week, Year 5 and 6 went to the great aussie bush camp thanks to Miss O'hara, Mrs Vidler, Mr Alletsee and Eunice for putting up with us. We all had a great time.

Thank you to all the teachers for teaching all the classes this year.

From Year 7

This year, Year 7 have taken part in numerous excursions. Early in Term 4 we attended Coffs Harbour and took part in numerous activities such as surfing, bush walking and a mud run.  Year 7 hosted a cookie dough fundraiser to assist in funding this excursion.

This year two of our fellow year 7 students have been successful in securing positions in Aurora for 2023.

At the start of 2022, year 7 was separated into two groups.  We have now merged into one group.  Many of our year 7 peers have participated in sporting, debating, agricultural activities and excursions.

Overall, our first year in Secondary in Year 7 has been amazing.  We have all been offered many different opportunities.  We have had a very successful year with the assistance of our Year Advisor, Miss Condrick.  We would like to say thank you to Miss Condrick for all of her support she has given us this year.  We wish Miss Condrick all the best with her new job in 2023.

From Year 8

This year has been an eventful year for Year 8. We had many fun and hands-on excursions like the coffs adventure center and ag-quip. We also had our fair share of sporting events and excursions for the cricket and football teams.

The Year 8 SRC team was really active with creating fundraisers, events, and helping out around the school.

We would like to give a special thanks to teachers and staff that helped organize and coordinate the excursions and events that held place this year including snowball, guyra gift, sporting events and other excursions.

From Year 10

Well, we have made it! The end of Year 10 has arrived.

Some of the student’s highlights this year have been Brooke winning the Oral presentation and 2nd in judging at the Marino Whether Competition in Dubbo. Many students participated, competed, judged at the Guyra Show, Northern School Steer Competition and Merino judging in Dubbo.

Some of the girls participated in League tag at Inverell.

A special mention to the Year 10 Rugby League boys who played hard and travelled far to compete in several competitions to be the best in NSW Small Schools for Touch Football, Rugby League 7’s and have just competed in the Grand Final of the Inaugural Jamie Lyons Killer 9’s Cup in Tamworth and as Jaime Lyon’s himself saying, that some of the best up and coming league talent was on display. Guyra reached the Grand Final and just missed out on a win against Scone. For a small High School to produce such athletes is a major achievement.

Year 10 was also looking forward to an excursion to Dubbo this year, but you can’t change the weather. We will look forward to an extended day at Coffs Harbour tomorrow to celebrate the end of Year 10. It’s been a long year at school with a lot of sickness both students and staff. But we have all worked hard to achieve our goals and are very excited to finally reach our Senior Study Years.

We would like to farewell any Year 10 students who are leaving and starting their career path outside of the school. Congratulations and goodbye.

Thanks to our Year Advisor Miss Wilson, teachers, coaches, and all the Support Staff for helping us throughout our schooling so far. We hope we will do the school proud in Year 11 and 12.
