CREATE - Performance

Year 8

Interacting with each other via screens isn’t something you’d expect would be optimal for learning and engaging in performance, however students in Year 8 CREATE-Performance successfully collaborated online to learn about ancient Greek plays and perform for their peers.

Students enjoyed the experience of creating masks or using props to change roles whilst learning about Pandora’s box, The Trojan Horse and how Arachne, the first spider, came to be! They also had the opportunity to practice hip hop dance moves in the privacy of their homes and learnt how dance forms today connect back to Western Ballet and traditional African dance, and how Performing Arts continue to enrich our lives.

With our return to school, students will get back into their practical activities, choreographing hip hop dances and learning African drumming skills. An African Dance incursion has been rescheduled but will be coming up soon, so students across Year 7 & Year 8 will be immersed in the rich, vibrant culture from West Africa!

Healthy Lifestyles - The Body Lab

Year 10

During remote learning, students in The Body Lab participated in an incursion with a local gym, 'Training With Mates'. Students have been learning about the muscles and bones in the body and got to participate in a live workout with a trainer and have discussions throughout about how the body moves and the major muscles that support these movements. It was a great experience for students to put their knowledge to practice whilst also having fun being active with one another remotely.
