Junior Sport Update

Dr Seuss said, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go.” I have thought about this quote quite a lot in this period of remote learning. It can be difficult to motivate yourself and get your work done. With missing friends and the social contact, stuck looking at the same four walls and a screen all day, it is easy to live in the struggle. The quote from Dr Seuss reminds me that I have a choice on how I feel and where I go with my remote learning. The power lies within me, and I get to choose. I know what my choice will be. What will yours be?

With the news that the Winter season has now come to an end (please see Mr Fochesato’s article), our attention turns towards Athletics and the Summer season. The Athletics season will not go ahead as usual, with all invitational carnivals being cancelled. This does, however, leave the major carnivals to possibly go ahead in Term 4. Once dates are confirmed, I will let the community and those involved know.

Summer sports will recommence at the beginning of Term 4. The season’s commencement will be based on health advice closer to the time, with the first game being scheduled for the first Saturday back in Term 4.  A reminder that all boys who played a summer sport in Term 1 are expected to fulfil their commitment in Term 4. Where possible, we will aim to keep training days the same as Term 1, but please be aware that we do have to replace coaches from time to time and may need to reschedule some teams’ training times. I will release the training schedule and draws for Term 4 once information is available.

In the meantime, look after yourselves and each other.
