Music - Mr. Gooding

Senior school

The senior students have been exploring the elements of music, learning how they can use these elements to create, compose and improvise their own musical works. Students have been using musical softwares to record their voices, improvising and exploring their vocal range and melodic ideas. They have used these programs to layer multiple different recordings of their own voices, each being its own independent melodic idea, allowing students to explore and create different musical textures, dynamics, rhythms and melodies.

Middle school

The middle school students have been exploring the musical  element of texture, using musical softwares to create and compose their own works. Students have  explored and learnt about how instruments interact with each other, in order to create different textures within music. Exploring music from a range of genres and time periods, from dixieland jazz to modern pop songs. Students then used musical softwares to create their own music, layering in different musical loops and creating something that is unique to them and filled with musical textures.

Junior school

The junior school students have been exploring their vocal range, practicing singing and developing their abilities to hold pitch. Students have been learning common folk songs and nursery rhythms such as London's burning, Inanay and little Liza jane. Students have also been exploring pitch through musical games such as “Princess vs Monsters” where students listen carefully to the frequency of a note and determine whether the pitch is rising or falling.

Playing with our new toys in Music.

It is great to be back for our music lessons with Mr Gooding. And even better when we have these fantastic new keyboards to experiment with and learn how to play.
