Artisanship Specialism

Year 9 & 10

Artisanship re-focuses technology studies on the skill and ingenuity of the handmade object, allowing students to discover the place that artisan skills will continue to have in our fast-paced, ever-changing, hi-tech world.

Each piece you see below is the student’s own original design and handiwork: no templates, no drawings and no sample projects were provided, and most students began with no prior woodworking or silversmithing skills. The fact that the students persevered through a lockdown to achieve this, making effective use of their shortened time in the workshop, attests to the work ethic, creative thinking and problem-solving skills they have developed throughout the semester.
