Principal's Report

Welcome to Term 3

I hope everyone had a relaxing term break. Whilst it's not the start we hoped for, once again we have managed to 'pivot' quickly to the lockdown. Staff and students have been fantastic and the transition has been smooth. As always, I will keep you updated as information comes to hand.

Staffing Update

We are excited to welcome the following new staff members to the team here at the college:

  • Niamh McPhelimy - Library Manager
  • Riley Maloney - English/Generalist Teacher

Sadly, we farewell Joseph O’Farrell (Maths Teacher) and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Stage 2 Build

The Stage 2 Build is coming along well and we are on track for works to be completed by January 2022. We have commenced looking at furniture layout and type, which is always an exciting part of the process.

The new bike shed is underway and, going forward, I am happy to announce that students will now have access to two bike sheds (the existing and the new).

Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 reports were made available on Compass on Friday 16 July. We encourage all students and parents to take the time to read through their report together.

BSC Website

We are in the process of making a number of changes to our website. In particular, a Students & Families page has been created under the new Our Community tab. This page includes a number of quick links which we hope our current families will find useful. The information on this page will grow over time and although not all pages have been populated as yet, we encourage you to take a look when you have a moment.

A link to this page, 'Quick Links for Current Families', has also been added to the main dropdown menu on the homepage for easy access.

Emergency Management

Beaumaris Secondary College has a comprehensive Emergency Action Plan in case of an emergency and we are required to practise regular evacuation drills. Our last Emergency Evacuation drill was held in the last week of Term 2.

It is important that anyone who is at the college during an evacuation drill or emergency is aware that the NORTHERN OVAL is our evacuation point. When the emergency signal is activated, all members of the school community are required to move to the designated evacuation area immediately and listen for instructions.

I look forward to being able to welcome everyone back to onsite learning.
