GRANDPARENT’S DAY

PRAYER FOR GRANDPARENTS

Dear God,

We thank you, Father, for our grandparents.

They are fun!

They are always so happy to see us

and give us a warm feeling.

We thank you, Father, for our grandparents.

They are wise!

Every story, every song, every photo and every smile

reminds us just how blessed we are

to have grandparents.

Help me to always remember the fun times we have together.

Those grandparents we see every day;

Those who live far away,

and those who watch over us in Heaven alongside you.

Thank you God. Amen.

A Blessing for all our very special Grandparents:

St Simon the Apostle school would like to congratulate and honour all grandparents near and far today, as it is ‘Grandparents Day’. As we reflect, honour and recognise today, the importance of Jesus’ grandparents, Sts Anne and Joachim who loved and cared for Jesus and were very important people in His life, we too recognise your grandparents and the gift they are to you and your family.

Here is a Blessing of Grandparents that you may like to use at your next family gathering or when you see your grandparents next.

Dear God,

Thank you for our Grandparents who are very cherished members of our family. They bring gifts of wisdom, experience, and love and share with us their life of faith. We thank you for their example and ask that you bless them with happiness and good health.

Lord God almighty, please bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health. 

Keep them in your love as they are your living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren.  Please bless them for the ways they help us and make us strong and for the love and guidance they give unconditionally.  

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 Amen.
