Year 4 Camp Wyuna Experience

Our Year 4 students are still very excited about their memorable camp at Queenscliff. Below are a few extracts from their recounts sharing their experiences from the overnight stay at Camp Wyuna.

“On the 14th and 15th of July Grade 4 had our first camp at Queenscliff. In the morning everyone had to be at school in the hall by 7:30am. We lined up in our classes and had a toilet run class by class. After that all of Grade 4 went outside, we put our bags under the bus and began our journey to our first camp. Everyone was so excited.

On our way to camp we quickly stopped at a big park in Geelong and ate our snack, it was wet and cold. We played freeze tag and then got back on the bus and continued our journey to Queenscliff.“

“For Yellow house’s 2nd activity we went to the beach. The beach was right outside the camp, it was a 2 minute walk, not even (roughly). At the beach we just played with our friends, built sand castles and more! I was building a sand sculpture with some of my friends. It was spectacular at the beach, not too cold, not too hot! When we came back from the beach we had an afternoon snack, which was a biscuit with jam in the middle. It was delicious!”

On Wednesday the 14th of July all the year fours went off to their first school camp. The camp was in Queenscliff and it was called Wyuna. When we got there the people that work there were explaining everything and giving us a tour. One of the things they showed us was the game Gaga Ball. After the tour our teachers told us who was in our cabins and where they were. They let us chat in our cabins for ten to twenty minutes and unpack, then we got into groups and did lots of fun activities. Camp was a very fun experience and I can't wait for next year.

Red groups first activity was a trust activity. It was lots of fun. There were partners and one partner had to give directions to where the other partner had to go. We also made a tunnel out of the partners we had for the activity before. They would put their hands up in a diagonal line and people at the end of the line would run through the tunnel. After that really fun activity, we had our lunch. After having something to eat, red group's next activity was a photo trail. There was a photo and a clue on the sheet of paper that the picture was on and you had to find where the object was. Red group also did some archery which was loads of fun as well. There was either a bullseye or a Balloon that could be your target. We settled into our cabins after that.
