JTC Robotics Team Wins State Final

Over the weekend, the JTC Robotics Team took the top prize in their category at the RoboCup Junior State Finals held at Curtin Stadium.  Out of 64 teams competing, they won first place in the Novice OnStage Performance with a spoof on the hit YouTube song Pro Fortnite Gamers.  The team worked for two terms afterschool and on weekends to engineer and program three working animatrons of a school bus, a banana, and a llama.  They wrote and submitted a technical paper outlining the robot platforms and coding used in the project.  The judges were highly impressed with their interview and how they communicated their knowledge about the robots.  This is a fantastic start to the JTC Robotics program. If your child is interested in robotics, the team is now open for new team members and will be meeting afterschool on Tuesdays to prepare for the First Lego League Competition in November. Students up to 16 years old are welcome to join in the fun.

Year 12 Walk on at the Fr Kevin King Cup Athletics Carnival

One tradition of the Fr Kevin King Cup Athletics Carnival is the walk on opening ceremony by Year 12 students. What a delight it was to see the Year 12 cohort enjoying this experience, having put in so much energy to prepare. Thanks to House Captains and their helpers, to Year 12 Homeroom teachers and House Coordinators and to all Year 12s for making the walk on something they will remember of their final year at the College.

New secondary student publication launched

Produced by students for students, Roncalli Review’s first edition launched today on John XXIII Day. The classrooms and colonnades of our College are known for welcoming and celebrating new ideas and critical thinking, making this the perfect outlet for students to discuss and contribute to today’s hottest, pressing, or controversial topics.

Roncalli Review captures the culture and development of student life on-campus. It is a lens for students to look at themselves, the College and the world. On top of all, the magazine is also a platform for our media students to showcase their creative talents, while also exploring new design techniques and aesthetics, and stay connected with the student community.

Proceeds raised from the sale of the publication go the charity.

Special thanks must go to Robert Di Giallonardo, Media teacher for his support and guidance.
