Primary  News

Dear Collingwood College School Community,

To all our families and students, welcome back to our wonderful school!

A special welcome to new families from near and far, and particular acknowledgement to the families commencing their child’s school journey in prep.

It has been wonderful to see so many smiley faces coming back for another exciting year at Collingwood College.  I trust your children have settled in well and have had a positive start to the year.

In 2017 we welcome new faces in the Primary community.  Campbell Gome (Class 1), Frank Stanley (Class 1), Melanie Keks (5/6 & PE), Tim Arundell (SELL & Prep), Alison McKean (Class 6) and Pam Tonkin (Craft).  I am excited in the knowledge that all members of our bright and proud school community will have the opportunity to experience learning success, build positive relationships and be better tomorrow than they were today.

Over the next few weeks please make yourself familiar with Compass notifications.  Staff are starting to schedule class meetings which as we know, are highly important.

Finally, please remember that you are always welcome to talk to your child’s teacher if you have any concerns about the first weeks at school.

My door also remains open in 2017, so come in for a chat anytime.

I hope to see many of you next Friday at our ‘Welcome Picnic’.

Warm regards,

Sam Luck

Secondary News

Dear Families and Carers,

It has been great to see all of our secondary students back at school this week as they move a step further along their school journey.

We have a lot of new faces in the high school. There are 67 lovely new Year 7 students that I am looking forward to getting to know as I teach them all throughout the year. In addition to this, we have approximately 50 new students in other year levels. We hope you all make them welcome as they start their journey at Collingwood.

As well as new students we have several new teachers in the high school. Rosie Campbell-Miller joins us in year 7. Rosie will be a Steiner teacher for 7D and an Art teacher in other year levels. There are a few more additions to the Art and Technology team. Liz Dalgleish will teach Visual Communications, Robert Redfern is our 7-9 food teacher and Jason Drew is the 7-9 Technology teacher. Jason will also be teaching VCAL and coordinating that program. Jenny Occleshaw joins our music team at Year 7. Rachel Wood is a home group teacher for 8B and also teaches English and Humanities. Tim Webster will also teach English and Humanities. Tim will be the home group teacher for 10A. Majella Paul will teach Chemistry at Year 11 as well as Maths throughout the school. Jennifer Campbell joins us as a Leading Teacher. Jennifer will coordinate Year 9 and 10 and lead our professional development program.

I would like to wish them a warm welcome. They have all talked nonstop about how well mannered, hard working and AWESOME our students are!

How can you help us this year?

We want you to communicate with us when you feel you need to. Support us to increase school attendance by encouraging your child to attend everyday they are fit and well. We always ask our young people to commit to two things....

Be Nice. Work Hard.

Everything else will be smooth sailing if those two small sentences, but important words are followed.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at the welcome picnic next week.
