STOP! One Punch Can Kill

STOP! One Punch Can Kill!

On Wednesday, the 21st of February, Staughton College hosted Caterina Politi, a mother who has been personally affected by the one punch scourge, addressed our Year 10 and 11 cohort on the tragic circumstance around her own experiences and encouraging the youth of today to stop and think before they act.

Her personal story was laid out for the cohorts in order to show the immediate effects of the ‘one punch’ on family, friends, and life in general. We thank Caterina for sharing her story and experience. It has certainly been a talking point amongst the students and we hope that the poignant message stays with them beyond school.

We have included reflections from some of the students:

TK wrote…”This lady is honestly so strong, she is doing so well and sees everything so positively for what has happened. I couldn’t thank her enough for what she has told us and this has totally turned my vision of violence around.”

BB said…”I admire Caterina for her strength, to even get up there and think about her son, let alone in front of people and re-watching the footage of the hit. I cannot even begin to understand how she can share things so personal to her. Personally, I would never be able to talk to people if anything like that happened to me.”

JG commented…”I hate the one punch. I know that is a big word to say but I hate it. It’s a terrible way to die and to hear someone died that way.”
