Principal's Report

S Factor

At Staughton, we are keen for students to be able to follow their talents and interests. The feats of the ‘S Factor’ held this week were a great example of this. Students signed up to perform in front of the school community at lunchtime. There were some terrific performances, including ‘veteran’ performers and some exciting new talent. I love watching our students passionately demonstrate their talents. We have a strong performance culture at the college that I am keen to continue to develop. I would like to pay tribute to David Schembri and Music Captains, Zac Neil and Sam Strawbridge, for their hard work in bringing this event together.

A number of lunchtime clubs and activities have also begun recently including Dumbledore’s Army and Festival of Healthy Living lunchtime activities.

School Council

I would like to warmly welcome the following parents and staff onto our school council for 2018. It is a significant commitment that makes a positive contribution to our school community

Parents

Sonja Ljavroska

Michael Currie

Staff

Deb Layton

Natasha Forlani

I would also like to sincerely thank two departing members of council. George Greaves has been an active and enthusiastic member of council for the past six years including multiple years as the School Council President. He has made a significant contribution to the college, in particular, by connecting us to a number of community organisations, and events such as Fatality Free Friday. He has personally been a great support to myself and previous principal, Jenny Malberg.

Maria Alexiou has filled a staff position on council on and off since the early 2000’s. She has worked tirelessly to ensure various functions of the council are well run including fundraising. She has been reliable and effective in her various roles.

At Council this week, we agreed for the school to be used as a centre for the Victorian School of Languages on Saturdays from Term Two. We are happy to help out as there is a clear demand for a local language centre. Whilst our school site is used, the language centre is run by the Victorian School of languages and not Staughton College.

DAVID LORD

Principal

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
